    Sit back for a virtual tour of the 2010 Kemah Boat parade. This year we sat dockside on the boardwalk  at Landry's, yes, unubstructed  front row seats with food and drink. For those of you that could not make it, here is what I saw that night. This was filmed in HD and I chose the music of Fragile, "Every Day a Story". Let me know what you think.

Mardi Gras 2011 celebrates Pirates of the Vieux Carre, New Orleans
Travel back in time to the late 1700's and early 1800's when the notorious privateer Jean Lafitte and scores of other pirates ruled the waters and shores of the Gulf of Mexico.  This is the time they called The French Quarter and it's barrier islands home.

      Take a "virtual" rollercoaster ride on the Boardwalk Bullet! Kemah Boardwalk debuted their brand-new wooden roller coaster on August 31, 2007. Standing nine-stories and starting with a 92-foot drop, Boardwalk Bullet features numerous track crossovers, direction changes and several tunnels all within feet of Galveston Bay. Designed by The Gravity Group, LLC for a tiny, one-acre footprint, Boardwalk Bullet will have the most crossovers ever incorporated into the layout of a wooden roller coaster.  

    A king cake is a type of cake associated with the festival of Epiphany in the Christmas season in a number of countries, and in other places with Mardi Gras and Carnival. In the United States, which celebrates Carnival in the Southeastern region, it is associated instead with Mardi Gras traditions.The cake has a small trinket (often a small plastic baby, sometimes said to represent Baby Jesus) inside, and the person who gets the piece of cake with the trinket has various privileges and obligations (such as buying the cake for the next celebration).

Mardi Gras 2011 Boat Parade - Krewe Du Lac          

  The crawfish craze is still going strong here in the Clear Lake area; and Alan's Seafood Market seems to be a big part of that. But supplying the Houston Bay area with tons of crawfish, shrimp, crab and all sorts of other wild caught Gulf seafood just isn't enough for Paul Latour and Alan Franks.         This three-day festival took place under the iconic Kemah Bridge, truly welcoming all into the city.  In addition to the crawfish, Kemah will offer the best of Cajun dishes and classic festival fare.  The area's best Zydeco bands provided the infectious rhythms where the Bayou meets the Bay. Crawfish races, crawfish eating contests, and more continued throughout the event. Performers mingled with vendors of gifts, arts and crafts.
